Beyond Blaine: Connecting Statewide Realities to Local Life

  • The Community Library 415 Spruce Avenue Ketchum, ID 83340 United States (map)

How do policies and prevailing priorities across the state influence life in the Wood River Valley? In a rural recreation-driven community like ours, it’s easy to feel somewhat insulated from the broader policies, experiences, and influences shaping Idaho. But state-wide issues and policy decisions have a significant and often underrecognized impact on our daily lives.

Join us to explore what's happening across Idaho—and to better understand how our community fits into the broader fabric of the state.

This panel brings together leaders from across Idaho to explore how happenings across the state shape life here in Blaine County. From education and conservation to the arts and community services, join us for a conversation about the connections between state realities and local impact — and an opportunity to ask questions, share concerns, and deepen your understanding of the broader forces shaping our community.

Panelists Include:

  • Kevin Bailey, Vice President of Impact and Nonprofit Center, Idaho Community Foundation

  • Jenny Emery Davidson, Executive Director, The Community Library

  • Jim Foudy, Superintendent, Blaine County School District

  • David Pettyjohn, Executive Director, Idaho Humanities Council

  • Jared Talley, Executive Director, The Nature Conservancy

The panel will be moderated by Sally Gillespie, Executive Director, Spur Community Foundation.
